Florida Distance Learning Consortium

Structure

The Consortium’s purpose is to provide strong distance learning leadership for Florida’s PreK-20 educational system. It achieves this objective by spearheading statewide initiatives and facilitating cross-institutional communication, thereby championing the interests of its membership institutions. Any accredited Florida educational institution, whether public or private, can participate in Consortium activities and utilize Consortium services.

The Consortium is building on eight years of progressive successes in the community college and university distance learning arenas. Ongoing efforts include:

  • Consolidated purchasing of distance learning products,
  • Statewide coordination of distance learning initiatives,
  • Electronic distance learning course catalog for student access,
  • Leadership for national and state distance learning initiatives.

Membership in the Consortium is open to all public or private school districts, colleges, universities, and private institutions recognized by Florida’s State Board of Education and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Each institution can appoint a member by notifying the Consortium in writing.
